By most approximations, there are 195 recognized sovereign countries in the world. More importantly to us–out of the 195 countries, approximately 61 are estimated to receive consistent snowfall at or below 1,000 meters above sea level. With this information, we started to seed invitations to riders from many of the countries on that list in the name of crowning a world champion.
During the event at Mammoth Mountain, California, we had participants from 10 of these countries, namely the USA, Canada, Japan, China, New Zealand, Great Britain, Switzerland, Sweden, Iceland, France, and Germany. This event featured the most robust competitive field to date.
Though the sunny June conditions resulted in a significant amount of the namesake slush, the international roster skillfully tackled the towering 28-foot snow feature before them.
