Woodward Park City in partnership with the 43 Institute (43i) is excited to announce the inaugural 4/3 Day Annual Block Party & Fundraiser, taking place on April 3, 2024. This event is dedicated to commemorating the legacy of Ken Block, a renowned figure in action sports and motorsports, and supporting the mission of 43i which is to create paths of opportunity for the exceptionally driven who lack the proper support system for growth and success by providing mentorship pathways, creating access, skills development and improving mental and physical health.
4/3 Day is set to be a celebration of Ken Block's life, featuring a KB Mountain Lab snowboard jam, networking opportunities, music performance, interactive exhibits, and exclusive fundraising activities. The event not only honors Block's achievements in skateboarding, snowboarding, motocross, and motorsports but also celebrates his entrepreneurial spirit.
Ken Block, co-founder of DC Shoes and later the visionary behind Hoonigan Industries, left an indelible mark on the world of action sports and motorsports. After selling his ownership in DC Shoes, Block fully embraced his role as the "Head Hoonigan In Charge" at Hoonigan Industries, a media and apparel brand for auto enthusiasts, steering the brand to become a staple in the automotive community. Block's career, from competing in action sports events to his ventures in business, showcased his multifaceted passion and commitment to the sports he loved. His tragic passing in a snowmobile accident in January 2023 has left a void in the hearts of many, but his adventurous spirit and groundbreaking contributions continue to inspire.
The movement to recognize April 3 (4/3) as "43 Day," spearheaded by The Block Family and supported by the motorsports community, honors Ken Block's enduring impact and the adventurous spirit he championed. While the goal of establishing "43 Day" as a national holiday is yet to be realized, this year's event will establish a lasting tradition to memorialize Block's remarkable legacy.
Lucy Block, President of 43i, warmly stated: "Ken had a profound connection with Woodward, from his involvement in the grand opening to many cherished returns with our family. He shared the same passion for action sports as well as motorsports so celebrating his life here, surrounded by the community he loved, feels incredibly right."
Gar Trayner, General Manager at Woodward Park City expressed: “43i’s mission of creating opportunity for growth and success in action sports (among other industries) is directly related to our daily mission at Woodward Park City.
